Unlike other dating apps, OkCupid won’t put any restrictions on you in regard to your sexuality, your gender, or what you’re looking for. You can look for friends, casual dates, create a couple’s profile and look for a polyamorous partner and so much more, all from right within the app.
We love how you can narrow your searches down to a few miles from your current location or cast your net wide and look for matches all over the world. There’s a smaller pool of people to choose from compared with other dating apps like Match and PlentyofFish, but from what we’ve seen the people on OkCupid tend to be much sincerer about what they’re looking for in comparison.
Another great feature of this app are the push notifications that get sent to your phone. You’ll receive a notification when someone visits your profile, when someone sends you a message, and if you’ve got a subscription you’ll get notified when people like your profile. You can disable these notifications if you get too many of them, something you can’t always do with other dating apps.
It’s important to point out that the app has a glitch where it may think you’re offline and annoy you about it, but this doesn’t happen often for most users. Sending messages through the app works pretty well, but pales in comparison to the browser-based chat app.
